WEEE Statement for Sword Medical Ltd
At Sword Medical Ltd, we are committed to complying with the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014. These regulations require producers and distributors of electrical and electronic equipment to finance the takeback, recycling, and safe disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) from products placed on the Irish market.
This policy outlines our commitment to environmentally responsible disposal of WEEE and provides guidance to hospitals and healthcare providers on how to return end-of-life medical devices to ensure they are recycled and treated safely.
Customer Responsibilities:
As a healthcare provider or customer of Sword Medical Ltd, you have a vital role in ensuring that WEEE is collected, reused, and recycled safely. Please follow these steps:
- Return WEEE to Us: We offer a free take-back service for WEEE related to the medical devices we supply. To arrange the return of WEEE, please contact us at:
- Email: graham@swordmedical.ie
- Phone: 00353 (0)18242701
- Address: Unit 4, Block 4B, Blanchardstown Corporate Park, Blanchardstown, Dublin, D15 FR52
We will provide you with instructions on how and where to return the WEEE, ensuring it is collected and treated properly.
- Do Not Include WEEE in General Waste Disposal: WEEE should not be disposed of with general hospital or healthcare waste. The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on our products is a reminder that these items should be handled separately to prevent environmental damage and health risks.
- Arrange for Proper Collection: If you choose not to return WEEE to us, you must ensure it is collected separately and sent to an authorised WEEE recycling facility. Please consult with your waste management provider to ensure compliance with WEEE disposal regulations.
Why Proper WEEE Disposal is Important:
WEEE contains hazardous materials that can be harmful to the environment and human health if not managed correctly. By disposing of WEEE according to proper procedures, you contribute to protecting the environment and ensuring the safe recovery of valuable materials.
